Discover the rarest Minecraft capes that appeared by mistake. From Mojang staff errors to glitched textures, learn about these 'illegal' items that were quickly deleted from player accounts.

Minecraft Capes That Weren't Meant to Exist We all know that getting a cape in Minecraft is like finding a golden ticket. Whether it's from attending Minecon or migrating your account, they are the ultimate flex. But sometimes, the devs at Mojang mess up.
Every now and then, a rare cape accidentally slips through the cracks and lands in a random player's inventory. Usually, Mojang realizes the mistake pretty fast and takes them back, leaving the players with nothing but a cool screenshot and a story to tell.
Here are four of the rarest "accident" capes that briefly appeared in the game.
The Valentine Cape

This one is a classic case of being too generous. A Mojang employee named Ekkelangelo gave this cape to a player called @LolFoxy2 after helping them fix some issues with account migration.
It didn't stay there for long. Once the employee realized just how rare that cape actually was, they snatched it back. Interestingly, the same cape randomly showed up again for a tiny bit on @JoinGrave’s profile in early 2023 before vanishing again.
The Test Cape (Size-M)

This cape looks like a mess of random colors, almost like a glitched Sniffer texture. It was originally made by @etanaratsastaja just to test things out in the live game.
Because of a bug, the cape accidentally ended up on an account named @kemiamu. The player posted about it on social media, revealing that the internal name for this weird design was actually "size-m." Of course, Mojang deleted it from the account shortly after the post went viral.
The Oxeye Cape

If you’ve heard of the game Cobalt, you might recognize this logo. It belongs to Oxeye Game Studio. While nobody knows exactly why this cape was even in the Minecraft files to begin with, it randomly appeared on @iSxckk’s profile due to a bug.
The texture for this one has been hiding in the game code since at least September 2022, but it’s definitely not something players are supposed to own.
The Blueprint (or Document) Cape

This is one of the oldest mysteries on the list. The texture was created all the way back in 2015. It looks like a blue blueprint or a technical document, but Mojang never gave it an official name. The first player to use this cape was @SupaCookiebrat.
Just like the Valentine cape, it seems to show up only when someone at Mojang makes a mistake during account updates. Since it has no official purpose, it remains one of those "ghost" items that only a few lucky people have ever seen in-game.
It’s pretty wild to think that a simple support ticket or a random bug could land you one of the rarest items in gaming history, even if it’s only for a few hours. These capes are basically the "forbidden fruit" of Minecraft. If you ever log in and see a weird cape on your character that you didn't buy or earn, enjoy it while it lasts, because Mojang is probably already looking for the delete button.
